The North West Jewish Housing Association (NWJHA) brings together the legacy and experience of the Manchester and Liverpool Jewish Housing Associations to serve Jewish communities across Greater Manchester and Merseyside.

We are a Jewish-led housing provider, committed to offering high-quality, affordable housing — including general needs homes, family housing, and supported or sheltered living options — all designed to meet the evolving needs of our community.

Working closely with our local partners, we’re dedicated to creating welcoming, inclusive neighbourhoods and providing sustainable housing solutions that support independence, dignity, and community life.

About Us

The North West Jewish Housing Association (NWJHA) is a Jewish-led, Registered Provider (RP) dedicated to delivering affordable housing solutions across Greater Manchester, Merseyside, and the broader North West of England. Our mission is to serve the diverse needs of our communities by offering a range of housing options, including sheltered housing, general needs housing, shared ownership, and affordable rental properties.

Our Heritage

The NWJHA was formed through the merger of two esteemed organiSations:

Manchester Jewish Housing Association (MJHA)

Established in 1959 by the Manchester Jewish Board of Guardians, the MJHA has a longstanding tradition of providing affordable housing to the Jewish community in Greater Manchester. Over the decades, it has developed strong partnerships to deliver outstanding services and accommodations to its tenants.

Liverpool Jewish Housing Association (LJHA)

Rooted in the vibrant Jewish community of Liverpool, the LJHA has been instrumental in offering housing solutions tailored to the needs of Jewish residents in Merseyside. Situated in Allerton, South Liverpool, the association has contributed significantly to the local community by providing quality housing and fostering a sense of belonging.

By uniting these two organisations, the NWJHA combines decades of experience and shared values to better serve Jewish communities throughout the North West.

Our Commitment

As a registered entity with the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH), the NWJHA operates under charitable rules, ensuring transparency, accountability, and a focus on community welfare. Our Board of Management comprises dedicated volunteers from diverse backgrounds within the Manchester and Liverpool Jewish communities. Each member brings unique expertise and a deep commitment to excellence, working tirelessly to provide safe, warm, and affordable housing for our tenants. Board members serve in a voluntary capacity, receiving no remuneration, and are united by a shared dedication to enhancing the quality of life within our communities.
